VALE - Alan David Griffiths

We are saddened to advise that former Sutherland Sharks footballer Alan David Griffiths passed away on the 5th December after a battle with cancer. He was aged 75.

Alan was an outstanding sportsman playing first grade cricket for
Sutherland and at the same time playing first grade football with
Sutherland Sharks in the NSW state League.

His Senior representative football career with Sutherland Sharks spanned from 1965 to 1969 before moving on to Marconi Stallions in 1970. He also represented NSW against Victoria.
He returned to Sutherland in 1976 to play with brother Ron.
The Shire has had 3 generations of Griffiths come through with Alan’s father Dave playing, then Alan and Ron ,and Alan and Leonie’s 3 boys Joel, Adam and Ryan who were all Socceroos.

We extend our sincere sympathy to his wife Leonie, his sons Adam, Joel, Ryan and daughter Renee, and their families.

The family has requested no flowers, and instead, donations will be accepted for the Cancer and Palliative Care units at Gosford Hospital. A collection box will be available at the registration table on the day.
