A big welcome this week to the officials, players and spectators from one of our traditional rivals, Marconi Stallions.

The Stallions and the Sharks are both coming off the back of hard fought draws last week and the Sharks are keen to keep their unbeaten run in the Premier League going. The Sharks have shown tremendous team spirit and a togetherness that pervades throughout the club and has us sitting on top of the club championship.

Last week...Round 7

The first team achieved a great result against the strong Sydney United on the back of a superlative performance from goalkeeper Nathan Denham and two goal line clearances from Nick Stavroulakis. Read more here...

The U/20’s continued their good form with a strong away win that saw Josh Da Silva continue his exciting comeback with a world class goal. James McKenzie and Tyson Rhodes have been solid as a rock at the back and will look to continue their dominance tonight

The Junior Clubs with us tonight are Bangor and Loftus Rovers. Both have a reputation of looking after their juniors and supporting the representative teams over many years. We look forward to their entertainment tonight and hope the children enjoy the occasion.

I hope everyone has a great night watching two teams that play entertaining football.

Paul Smith - President, Sutherland Sharks FC

Coaches Report

Our Round 6 home game against Bankstown was a real tussle. They came with a defensive game plan which was difficult to break down. It took patience and discipline to achieve the 2-1 victory. Our forward movement was impressive. The two neat finishes by Sam Awad and Matthew Bailey proved the difference.

Our arm wrestle with Sydney United last week again highlighted our discipline and great team spirit. Every player delivered 100% commitment. What most impressed me was our resilience against a physically big team. Our boys didn’t take a backward step.

This week’s game poses another challenge in a competition where there are no easy games. Once again we will be pushing for all three points. We had a great session with Grays Point Soccer Club during the week with some of their 21’s acquitting themselves when joining in.

Thanks for the support! - Robbie

Around The Traps

  • Josh Da Silva, Robert Paratore and Hayden Morton will attend Joeys camp this week . A Shark junior, Paratore has been training with our first grade since returning from Leicester City where he is part of their academy. We wish them the best of luck in their push for selection in the World Cup Squad.

  • Spies tell me the national coaches are also eyeing off a couple of younger shark players with a view to future campaigns.

  • Marconi’s squad includes former Sutherland juniors Matthew Gordon (Menai), Matthew Hall (Lilli Pilli), and Brenton Rhodes (Menai).
