PHYSIOTHERAPIST TO THE SHARKS OFF TO UK

Monday, August 31st, 2009

Jubilee Sports PhysioTherapist and Sutherland Sharks club Physio Michael Gabriel will travell to the UK as the Phyiotherapist for the Australian Schoolboys team. This is yet another achnowledgement of the professionalism that is runing throughout the club and reflected in the results over the past two years. The Sutherland sharks are now well known to have the fittest teams in the state and was evident last sunday when our Sharks Premier league Squad came back from 2-0 down in the 55th minute to snatch victory in the 90th minute against minor premiers Sydney United and go straight to the GrandFinal for the second year running.

The Sharks now need the Shires support in the Grandfinal to be played at Penrith Stadium 3pm 13th September.

Brendan selected for Australian Schoolboys

Sunday, August 30th, 2009

Brendan McLean a member of our U18s squad has been selected to tour the UK in January 2010 with the Australian Schoolboys team. For Brendan who was an applicant for the Scholarship to The Ipswich Academy this is a bonus as HSC exams later this year would have prevented him attending the Academy if he had been successful.

We wish Brendan all the best for the tour and this is yet another example of the recognition of talent we have in the Sutherland Sharks Club and throughout the Shire.

                             WELL DONE BRENDAN

PRESENTATION NIGHT 10TH SEPTEMBER TRADIES.

Friday, August 28th, 2009

The Sharks Presentation night for our Youth Teams will be held at the Tradies on 10th September with our senior team members as spcial guests.

This is allways a good night and an opportunity for the club players and family members to get together after a long season and share stories on what may have been, and celebrate what has been a successful year all round.

One week away from second Grandfinal

Friday, August 28th, 2009

Sutherland Sharks are one win away from a second Grand Final appearance in as many years after a hard fought win over the strong Marconi outfit at Marconi which has set up this weekends match against Minor Premiers Sydney United away from home.

Against Marconi last Sunday the Sharks dominated teritory in the opening stages but the first opportunity fell to Marconi. The Sharks goalkeeper Nathan Denham fumbled an Abbas free kick on the far post with Tomasevic missing from an acute angle.

At the other end the Sharks Brad Boardman got onto the end of a Bakis free kick but was closed down by the Marconi defence.  The second half started with the Sharks taking control and from another Jim Bakis free kick Pani Nikas jumped high over the defence to get a beautiful header on target, the goalkeeper got a hand to the ball but Nikas was on hand to put the ball away for what proved to be the winning goal.

The under 20s went down 3-2 in a penalty shootout to Sydney Olympic and now play Sydney United for a place in the Final.  Our U14s after finishing second in the competition proper lost and will also play this weekend for a Grand Final place.  BEST OF LUCK FROM EVERY ONE IN THE SHIRE
